System Guidelines
Formulas & Classifications
1. Body Mass Index (BMI)
The system computes BMI automatically from the encoded weight and height:
Height is entered in centimeters and converted to meters (÷ 100). The result is rounded to one decimal place.
Example: 55 kg, 160 cm → 55 ÷ (1.60)² = 55 ÷ 2.56 = 21.5 → Normal.
2. Nutritional Status Classification (BMI)
| Classification | BMI Range |
|---|---|
| Severely Underweight | Below 16.0 |
| Underweight | 16.0 – 18.4 |
| Normal | 18.5 – 24.9 |
| Overweight | 25.0 – 29.9 |
| Obese | 30.0 and above |
3. High-Risk Flag
Records classified as Severely Underweight, Underweight, or Obese are counted under the High Risk card on the dashboard.
4. Reproductive Age Brackets
| Bracket | Age (years) |
|---|---|
| 10 – 14 | 14 years and below |
| 15 – 19 | 15 to 19 years |
| 20 – 49 | 20 years and above |
These classifications are applied automatically by the system when weight and height are encoded. BMI cut-offs follow the standard adult (WHO) ranges.
